Shodash Granth Mahatmya
The Significance of Sixteen Texts

Shri Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharyaji composed sixteen texts (Shodash Granth) to help his devotees achieve the perfection of devotion, each dedicated to a different Vaishnav. Pushtimarg (Path of Grace) is founded on four fundamental principles:

  1. Surrender (Sharanagati)
  2. Dedication (Samarpan)
  3. Service (Seva)
  4. Devotion (Bhakti)

Each principle has four corresponding texts:

Texts on Surrender:

  • Balbodh
  • Vivek Dhairya Ashray
  • Krishnashray
  • Panchpadyani

Texts on Dedication:

  • Siddhant Rahasya
  • Navratna
  • Antahkaran Prabodh
  • Nirodh Lakshan Granth

Texts on Service:

  • Siddhant Muktavali
  • Pushti Pravaah Maryada
  • Sanyas Niyam
  • Seva Phal

Texts on Devotion:

  • Yamunashtak
  • Jalbhed
  • Chatuhshloki
  • Bhakti Vardhini

The Shodash Granth begins with Yamunashtak and concludes with Seva Phal. Some of these texts have also been commented upon by Shri Vitthalnathji. In these sixteen texts, it is described how to serve Pushti Purushottam, understanding which, the soul can get free from the cycle of the worldly ocean.
